Richard “Rick” Christerson, 59, of DeQuincy, passed into the arms of his Savior on Friday, Feb. 21, 2025. He was born on May 22, 1965, in Hurst, Texas and grew up in Baton Rouge before making DeQuincy his home.
Rick loved being outdoors, often spending most of his time fishing and hunting. He also loved to cook and to watch sports with friends and family. Rick’s favorite thing to do though was spend time with his wife and children, and he loved when everyone was in one place enjoying their time together. Rick was a steady rock for those close to him to lean and count on, always showing up when it mattered most. He was quiet but strong, a provider and protector, and a devoted husband and father. He had no greater pride and joy than his family. He served as a role model for many and the people who both loved and looked up to Rick are countless.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Erin Christerson; children, Kayleigh Christerson, John Christerson, Scotti Christerson, and Allie Christerson, all of DeQuincy; one grandson, Lane Brown of DeQuincy; three sisters, Annette Muller (Kevin) of Italy, Texas, Laura McWhorter (David) of Midlothian, Texas, and Danielle Christerson of DeQuincy; his nieces and nephews; and many friends who were like family.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Myrtle Christerson, and Donna Christerson; and brother, John David Christerson.
A Celebration of Rick’s life was held at DeQuincy Church of Christ on Monday, Feb. 24, at 11 a.m., with Bro. Al Woodard and Bro. Joey Franks officiating. Visitation was at DeQuincy Church of Christ on Sunday, Feb. 23, from 5 until 8 p.m. Visitation resumed at the church on Monday, from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial followed at Perkins Cemetery in DeQuincy.
Services entrusted to Jordan and Amanda Mothershed of Hixson-Snider Funeral Home, 205 E. Harrision St., DeQuincy.
