Clarence Silas Shirley Sr. was born on March 28, 1962, and passed away on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026, at the age of 64.
He found pure joy in fishing and riding his motorcycle. Clarence was a true handy man who always knew how to fix anything. He also had a great sense of humor that brought light and laughter to everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his sons, Clarence “C.J.” Shirley Jr. (Macy) and Jody Shirley; grandchildren, Cooper, Carter, Vayda, Benji, and Conrad; sisters, Jolene Doyle, Kathy Bushnell, Syvella Jackson (Wayne), and Labreeska Hall (Randy); numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Ivy Marie Shirley; siblings, Loretta Yancey, Marsha Martin, Larry Burnitt, and Margretta Rougeou.
The family received friends from 5 – 8 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 18. Visitation will continue today, Wednesday, Aug. 19, from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 10 a.m., at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Rev. Carlton Jackson Jr. will be officiating. Interment to follow at Dry Creek Cemetery in Dry Creek.
Arrangements will be handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
