The DeQuincy Tigers Fall Scrimmage at Basile has been moved up a day to Friday Aug. 21, due to a shortage of officials in the southwest Louisiana area. This has been a big issue for the last several years, but especially in the last three, which is why folks are seeing a lot more Thursday night games rather than the traditional Friday night lights.
Regardless of the change of date, the Tigers will be up for the challenge. They will get the scrimmage against the quality Basile Bearcats opponent that is known for their physicality. Basile is now led by former Iota head coach Josh Andrus who spent four seasons with the Bulldogs and bringing that program back to life with quarterfinal appearances in Class 3A.
The Tigers should have a potent offense this season led by new quarterback Sley Gardner and company. On the defensive side of the ball, Gage Schultz returns at linebacker as well as a few other returning starters.
Kickoff against Basile is set for 6:30 p.m. at Leroy Soileau Stadium in Basile.
Geaux Tigers!
