Dean D. Day serves as the center director of the Louisiana Small Business Development Center (LSBDC) at McNeese State University, where he helps entrepreneurs start, grow and strengthen their businesses. Through his work at the LSBDC, Day assists business owners throughout Southwest Louisiana in navigating challenges, identifying opportunities and building sustainable growth strategies.
Day holds a Bachelor of Science in business management from Louisiana State University and brings more than 35 years of experience in insurance, sales, consulting and business ownership. Before joining the LSBDC at McNeese, he operated an insurance coaching business and has launched and managed five businesses throughout his career.
Day has been recognized statewide for his contributions to small business development. In fiscal year 2025, he received the Business Starts Award for helping launch 30 new businesses, the highest number assisted by any consultant in Louisiana. In 2024, he earned the Rising Star Award for his leadership, innovative outreach efforts and impact on the LSBDC network.
A native of Southwest Louisiana, Day remains active in the community through leadership and volunteer service with organizations including the Calcasieu Boat Club, Boy Scouts of America, the Home Builders Association and the Lake Charles Power Squadron.
