Frank Glenis Core was born on Jan. 6, 1954, and passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at the age of 72. Born in Hammond, Frank was a longtime resident of Hackberry, where he built a life centered around hard work, family, and the simple things he loved most.
Those left to cherish Frank’s memory are his wife of 53 years, Letha Nunez Core; children, Brandon Core and wife Opal, and Trent Core; grandchildren, Sebastian Core and wife Jordan, Isabela Core, Olivia Core, Lucia Core, and Maximilian Core; great-grandson, Hanes Core; siblings, Gwen Robertson and husband Frank, Twana Harris and husband Anthony, and Brad Core; sisters-in-law, Louella Nunez and Hattie Nunez Morales; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dog, Willow.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank “Sonny” and Ella Mae Harris Core; brother, Will Core; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rodolph and Eunice Nunez; brothers-in-law, Leroy Nunez and Bobbie Billeaud; and his grandparents, Ralph and Vertilee Core, who raised him.
The family received friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the rosary at 12 p.m. with the memorial service immediately following, Saturday, May 30, at the New Hackberry Community Center, Hackberry. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
