Marjorie Melancon Duplechin was born Mar. 2, 1941, and passed away Monday, May 4, 2026, at the age of 85.
Marjorie passed away leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and love. She worked for many years as a bus driver at South Beauregard, where she was known for her dedication and friendly spirit.
Marjorie loved traveling and made many cherished memories exploring the country with her family in their RV. Those adventures were some of her happiest times.
She was funny, outgoing, and had a way of lighting up any room she walked into. Marjorie truly never met a stranger – her kindness and welcoming nature left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
Above all, she loved her family deeply and treasured every moment spent with them.
She is survived by her son, Jacob Duplechin and wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Alexis Maple-Coward and husband Atreyu, Jarrett Duplechin, Gavin Duplechin, and Ian Hanchey; great-grandchildren, Daphne Maple; siblings, Eve Duplechin and Francis Miguez; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Duplechin; daughter, Constance Marie Duplechin; parents, Ovey and Eurma Melancon; and six siblings.
The family received friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m., Friday, May 8, with the rosary at 12:30 p.m., at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Interment followed at Duplechin Cemetery in Ragley.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
