DeQuincy and the surrounding community will soon have a new place to Cool Off

Cooling off at the splash pad will soon be a reality for DeQuincy. Work has commenced at the George Thompson Field near the walking path and skateboard park. Installation will take two to three months depending on the weather, according to DeQuincy Mayor Riley Smith.

“This is something our community has asked for, for years and it will be a wonderful attraction for years to come,” the Mayor said.

The vendor is Kincade Recreation, a Louisiana-based recreation equipment vendor that provides splash pads.

Kim Rainwater, city planner, said a total project cost is not available at this time as the City of DeQuincy is providing plumbing, pipe, etc.

“The splashpad itself was $203,000. Hours will be daily May-September, 8 a.m.-8 p.m.,” Rainwater said.
