DeQuincy, LA
The city council of the city of DeQuincy met in regular session on the above date in the city hall council chambers located at 300 Holly Street, DeQuincy, Louisiana, with the following members present: Scott Wylie, Jim Smith, Cameron Smith, Margaret Brown and Bobby Dahlquist.
The invocation was given, and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
The minutes from March 9 ,2026 meeting were approved.
The March 2026 monthly budget and the actual comparison report for the General Fund, Street/Sales Tax Fund, Utility Fund, Airport Fund, Public Safety Fund, and Public Service and Safety Building Fund were included in each council member’s packet. Also, Fire, Police, Public Works, Sewer, and Maintenance reports were in the council files. The mayor gave the city report verbally. There were no questions or comments from the council.
The agenda was amended to add consideration and adoption of resolution to authorize Mayor Smith to act on behalf of the city of DeQuincy to advertise Requests for Qualifications (RFQs) from qualified engineering and consulting firms for services related to the DeQuincy Industrial Airpark. All approved amended agenda.
Public input was heard from citizens about safety concerns with building downtown. Concerns were addressed by the council.
Council accepted the audit report from Kolder Slaven and Company.
Approved liquor license for Dollar General Store # 21274.
Approved a variance for Leatrice Wilson for setbacks for less than the required footage in the front of the property at 1109 Richard Allen Street.
The council adopted the following resolution:
To authorize Mayor Smith to act on behalf of the city of DeQuincy and take appropriate action to remove one of the four generators involved from the HGA Grant.
Authorize Mayor Smith to act on behalf of the city of DeQuincy to accept the bid from K&J for the box hanger at the DeQuincy Airport.
Authorize Mayor Smith to act on behalf of the city of DeQuincy advertise for Requests for Qualifications (RFQs) from qualified engineering and consulting firms for services related to the DeQuincy Industrial Airpark.
Introduced Ordinance # 1006, and set a public hearing for May 11, 2026, for Franchise and Water service Agreements between LAWCO and the City of DeQuincy.
Voted to start the condemnation process on the structure located at 129 Pine Street.
Voted to proceed to the next step of the condemnation process, which is to send to the Parish for Inspection, on the structure located at 210 Hall Street and 304 S Perkins Street.
Voted to proceed to the next step of the condemnation process structures and set a public hearing for May 11, 2026, located at:

803 N Division
206 S Holly Street
211 N Pine Street
