Winter Storm, Fern, has had area residents scrambling for the past week to protect water lines, pets, plants and to keep warm and dry.
Early on, school officials in Calcasieu and Beauregard Parishes made announcements for schools and facilities to be closed on Monday, Jan. 26; for one day only ahead of the record low temperatures in the 20s and the wind chill factor in the teens.
Some ballgames continued, some church services were cancelled and residents were urged to stay off the wintery roads if possible for safety.
All in all, residents fared well with our linemen from Beauregard Electric and Cleco swiftly addressing some outages.
