Stacy Buxton Mitchell, a 2004 graduate of DeQuincy High School, graduated from William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Hattiesburg, Miss. on Saturday, May 17.
Dr. Mitchell earned a B.S. in Biology from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas and attended graduate school at McNeese State University while working in clinical research before attending medical school.
Dr. Mitchell and her husband Keith are the parents of four children. Their oldest, a 2025 graduate of Singer High School, will begin a Professional Aviation degree at Louisiana Tech this summer, while their other three children will continue their education in DeQuincy.
Dr. Mitchell will complete a three-year residency at the LSU family medicine program at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. Her professional interests include rural primary care, sports medicine, and obstetrics.
