DeQuincy City Council met Monday, Apr. 14

The monthly council meeting was called to order by Eddy Dalhquist. Mar. 10, 2025 regular meeting minutes and Apr. 14, 2025 agenda were approved by the council. Kolder Slaven and Company presented the audit report for the year of 2024.

The Council approved Mayor Riley Smith to sign the Right Of Way Grant for parcel number 00816515. Mayor Smith was authorized on behalf of the City of DeQuincy to consider and take appropriate action for a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with Calcasieu Parish Police Jury and the City of DeQuincy regarding the Summer Food Program. Council also approved a Resolution ratifying the signature of Mayor Smith on a Non-Warranty Deed between the DeQuincy Railroad Museum Inc. and the City of DeQuincy, accepting ownership of the Railroad Museum. The council also approved RFQ for invitation for Architectural and Engineering Services for the new box hanger at DeQuincy Airport. The city will need to get three bids for designs.

Condemnation process will proceed on tearing down and cleaning up properties on, 202 Jackson St., 206 S. Holly St., and 404 Velmer St. Three letters have been sent to owners of 208 Hall St. and still no response. The city will proceed with the next step of the condemnation process, which is to send to the Parish for inspection, on the structure.

Ordinance #992 was introduced and a public hearing set for May 12, 2025, to update and amend Chapter 18 – Streets and sidewalks and Public Places, Article II Excavations, Sec 18-20 of the City Ordinance code.

A Public hearing and adoption of the following Ordinances were brought before the council.
