In loving memory of Carolyn Kay Pierce Burnett, she was born Jan. 14, 1948, and passed away Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025, at the age of 77.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Aunt Carolyn, who left this world peacefully on Feb. 9, 2025, at The Care Center of DeQuincy. She was a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose kindness and warmth touched the lives of everyone she met.
Carolyn lived a life full of love, resilience, and generosity. She was the heart of our family, always offering wisdom, comfort, and a warm embrace. Her love for sewing quilts, embroidery, and custom crafts brought joy to many, and her legacy will live on through the values she instilled in us.
She is survived by her brother, Drew Pierce and wife Gayle; nephews, Eugene, Alton, James, Billy, Avery Jr., William, Britt, Kevin, Greg, and Garland; nieces, Susie, Shirley, Elizabeth, Pam, Linda, Renee, Deborah, Bridget and Regina; step daughters, Cheryl and Laura, who she has raised as her own; step grandchildren, Amanda, Josh and Kaylyn; great grandchildren, Starr, Braxton, Olivia, Degan, Faith, Josie and Kolt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alton and Pearl Pierce; husband, Alvie Cecil Burnett; brothers, Avery Sr., Roscoe, Jimmy, Jackie and Samuel; sisters, Maxine, Joesphine, Delphine, Nancy and Jean; nephews, Patrick McLain and Bobby Bryant; and niece, Shelia Richard.
The family received friends Saturday Feb. 15, from 10 – 11 a.m. for visitation and 11 a.m. service at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home with interment at Hyatt Cemetery. Bro. Mike Streams officiated.
Though she may be gone from our sight, she will never be gone from our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Aunt Carolyn. You will always be loved and missed.
