Jerilyn Semien

Jerilyn “Beauty” Walker Semien was born Jan. 11, 1952, in DeQuincy, to Joseph Walker and Ella Mae Thompson Walker.

A lifelong resident of DeQuincy, she was a member of SureHouse Ministries. She was a former employee of High Hope Care Center.

Ms. Semien departed this life Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024, in Lake Charles.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, Brian (Yessica) Walker and Demetrius (Ingrid) Semien; one brother, Douglas Walker; eleven grandchildren, Laquad Roy, Brian Jr., Byron, Branden, Braylen, Brycen, and Brennen Walker, Kennedy, Carter, Jackson, and Reagan Semien; six great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debadria Semien; parents; sisters, Rose Jones, Delores Walker, and Clara Ann Thompson; and brothers, Timothy and Joseph Walker.

Her visitation will be Saturday, Dec. 28, from 11 a.m. with her funeral following at 1 p.m., at Bethel AME Church located at 511 S. Grand Avenue in DeQuincy. Burial will be at Community Cemetery under the direction of James Funeral Home.
