2024 Christmas Events are told here by the DeQuincy Chamber of Commerce.
They are:
Trail of Lights
DeQuincy Chamber will be joining with DeQuincy Civic Club with their Trail of Lights event. Businesses, Churches, Schools, and Residential Homes were asked to help decorate the town for the Christmas holidays.
Registration ended Dec. 1.
Voting began Dec. 2. Voting will end Dec. 15, and will be done online at www.dequincychamber.com. This will allow those that are visiting the homes during the Civic Club’s annual Parade of Homes event to vote as they ride around that night.
Winners will be announced Dec. 16, online and in the DeQuincy News.
Dickens in DeQuincy
Dickens In DeQuincy Christmas activities to be held Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6-7 are:
Friday, Dec. 6
5:30 p.m. – Lighting of the Christmas Tree at The Pocket Park on Pine and 4th St. A performance by DeQuincy Elementary School Choir. There will be Snow for the children to enjoy donated by Coconuts Cajun Grill. Carriage Rides will be offered by Gore Family Farms Carrriages.
6:30 p.m. – Christmas Fireworks Show at Union Pacific Park Baseball Field.
After the fireworks display, the following events will be held at DeQuincy Walking Path: DeQuincy Police Dept. National Night Out, free kiddie train rides, free fun jumps, free concessions and hot chocolate then a free outdoor movie,“The Polar Express” at the old Thompson Field.
Saturday, Dec. 7
9 a.m. – 2 p.m. – DeQuincy Farmers Market at DeQuincy Railroad Museum Park and DeQuincy Railroad Museum and Gift Shop will be open.
10 a.m. – DeQuincy Christmas Parade Line-up on 3rd St.
11 a.m. – Parade begins; Entertainment following the parade on DeQuincy Railroad Museum Stage to include: Sondra Stark Dance Team, DeQuincy High School Band performance, DeQuincy High School Choir performance, DeQuincy Civic Club’s presentation of Civic Club Person of the Year
1:30 p.m. – Charles Dickens themed Costume Contest
CPKC Holiday Express Train
The City is handling the vendor booths for the CPKC Holiday Express Train Event to arrive on Wednesday, Dec. 11, from 4 – 8 p.m.

Parade of Homes
The Parade of Homes will be held Saturday, Dec. 14, from 3-7 p.m. with Taste of the Holidays from 4-7 p.m. at Bible Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 211 Second St.
Tickets are now on sale: $20 for ages 11 and up, $10 for ages 5-10. Age 4 and under – no ticket required.
