Long named DeQuincy Teacher of Year

Deborah Long has been named the 2024 DeQuincy High School Teacher of the Year.

Long teaches English III and ACT Preparation and has taught at DeQuincy High for the past six years.

While at DeQuincy High, she has taught Business English, Technical Writing, Speech, and World History, in addition to her current teaching assignments. She also serves on the School Leadership Team.

Having previously worked at Singer and South Beauregard High Schools, Long has taught English from seventh through twelfth grades, beginning her teaching career in 2002.

Prior to entering education, she worked in a variety of fields, having experience in such diverse occupations as a ticketing agent and grounds crew member for a major airline and being a small business owner. She is also a certified fitness yoga instructor.

Long is a graduate of St. Louis Catholic High School in Lake Charles and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from McNeese State University, with a major in secondary education. She is certified to teach English and social studies.

She and her husband make their home in Longville.
