Tigers dominate Knights in jamboree

By Jake McCoy

DeQuincy set the tone early with a big 3 and out defensive stop. DeQuincy forced South Beau to punt, on the Tigers’ opening drive. They slowly moved the ball down field including two big runs with Wyatt LaVergne on a 25 yarder, and Hayz Hext on a 27 yarder. This resulted in a 1 yard touchdown run from Hext followed by Kohen Cormier kicking the extra point to put DeQuincy up early 7-0 with 8:57 remaining in the 1st half. Then with 2:07 in the 1st half Carson Rainwater connects with Kolby Pool from 17 yards out to extend the Tigers’ lead to 14-0 going into halftime. South Beau got on the board with 5:20 remaining in the contest but missed the extra point – 14-6 would be the final score. DeQuincy’s defense looked very physical to the point of attack. Offensively the Tigers looked to be more explosive and moved the ball very well.

Unfortunately, no stats were available for the jamboree but we hope to have them for next week’s regular season opener!

Geaux Tigers!
