During the month of August there were several burglaries that occurred in District One. The lead officer in solving those burglaries was Officer Josh McCoy.
Officer McCoy obtained warrants on Juston Joseph Cole, 19, Sulphur, who had been staying at a residence on Shady Lane.
The warrants on Cole were for Simple Burglary of a Vehicle, Criminal Trespass, and two counts of theft. Officer McCoy recovered much of the stolen property.
Judge Tony Fazzio affixed a bond amount of $105,000. A missing green Beretta 9mm pistol SN: Nu142429 stolen out of a vehicle on McNeese St. has not been recovered. Further Cole has left the area, and if anyone knows his whereabouts, please contact the DeQuincy Police Dept. at 337-786-4000
Another burglary occurred on Center St. Officer McCoy arrested Jaylin Scott Love, 30, DeQuincy, for that burglary and theft. Officer McCoy sent a warrant to Judge Tony Fazzio, and it was returned with a $20,500 bond. Love was transported to the Calcasieu Correctional Center by Warden Dwayne Tarver.
Investigation continues in these investigations. Major Jerry Bell sent the cases to the District Attorney’s office for their approval.
The DQPD works hard to solve all our crimes and especially the ones that involve those that burglarize residences. Our officers follow up on their reports and gain as much information as they can for our Detective.
Remember, never leave your firearm in an unlocked vehicle. Many thieves are looking for weapons to steal so they can sell them to buy Methamphetamine. Also, make sure that you have your serial numbers to all your firearms. That way, the detectives can put your stolen property on National Crime Information Center (NCIC).
