James Milton Blanks was born on Apr. 15, 1928, in Stephen Creek, Texas, and passed from this life on Friday, July 5, 2024, at his home in Shepherd, Texas, surrounded by his three sons.
He is loved and will be missed by son, James Michael Blanks and wife, Debbie; son, Steven Eugene Blanks and wife, Brenda; son, Timothy Ray Blanks; grandson, James Matthew Blanks; granddaughter, Shauna Lene’ Whitfield and husband, Joel; grandson, David Eric Bolenbaucher and wife, Darla; grandson, Bradley Steven Blanks and wife, Jennifer; granddaughter, Natalie Renee Goff and husband, Justin; great-grandchildren, Morgan and Norah Blanks, Bethany, Alexander and Ezra Whitfield; Grace and Emma Bolenbaucher; Megan Gorman and husband, Jesse, Lucas and Kenzie Blanks; and great-great-grandson, Jett Gorman.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Bobbie Faye Pierce Blanks; father, John Henry Blanks and mother, Minnie Kate Hopkins Blanks; brothers, John Albert Blanks, Henry Cecil Blanks (Sarah), Clifton Eugene Blanks, Thomas Raymond Blanks (Lillie); sisters, Katie Lee Blanks Mann (Tom), and Doris Elizabeth Blanks Hudgins (Avery).
The family received friends from 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 16, at Paul Horton Methodist Church in Stephen Creek, Texas. Interment followed at Mount Zion Cemetery in Coldspring, Texas.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
