Southern Belle passes through DeQuincy twice in one week

By Vance Perkins

Kansas City Southern Belle was the premier way to travel by rail from Kansas City to New Orleans from 1940 until 1970. Special locomotive with domed observation deck car, dining car, passenger cars, sleeping car. Travel in style. KCS was swallowed up in a purchase by a Canadian rail company and is now known as CPKC.

The Southern Belle is kept in storage and only used on certain occasions as mandated by management.

She passed through Wednesday, Feb. 7 and came back through on Saturday, Feb. 10.

There is no official announcement or schedule to be known. There is a vast network of railfan groups that travel all across the nation chasing opportunities to photograph and video trains of all kinds. She is a beautiful sight to see and sound to be heard.
