Cleco warns customers to be aware of scam phone calls especially during the holiday season. Cleco customers are reporting fraudulent phone calls by scammers threatening service disconnection if customers don’t make an immediate payment.
Scammers are even telling customers they have a new account number. Cleco will never call a customer and ask for an immediate payment by the phone and then threaten service disconnection if the customer doesn’t make the payment.
Customers should always contact Cleco directly at 1-800-622-6537 to check the status of their account or log into their MyAccount, Cleco’s online customer account management service, at www.cleco.com. Customers can also visit a customer service office to discuss their bill or make a payment.
Cleco strongly encourages customers to end a call immediately when they suspect it’s a scam. Scammers initial goal is to pressure customers and convince them they work for Cleco.
