E. J. “Cobby” Dickerson was born Jan. 25, 1937, and passed away Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023, at the age of 86. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and roping. He also enjoyed farming and gardening, especially watermelon and okra. Cobby worked as a Rigger at Citgo for 33 years. More than anything, he loved his family and being with his grandbabies.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elsie Dickerson; children, Theresa Dickerson Craft and husband Wayne, Luke Dickerson and wife Ramona, Mark Dickerson and wife Dusty, and Casey Dickerson and wife Stefanie; grandchildren, Jessica, Tracy, Miranda, Jon, Gary Paul, Victoria, Cullen, Cane, Gracie, and Brady; 18 great-grandchildren; and sisters, June Streams and Delores Owens.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, “Main Man” Myles Dickerson; parents, W. E. “Monk” Dickerson and Ava Dickerson; and brothers, Dinkie Dickerson and Jobie Dickerson.
The family received friends from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 5, at Hargrove Bible Baptist Church. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 6, at Hargrove Bible Baptist Church. Bro. Vance Perkins will officiate. Interment will follow in Masonic Cemetery in DeQuincy.
Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
