Kenneth Potts

Kenneth “Butch” Wesley Potts, of Lake Charles, was born in Yazoo City, Miss. on Feb. 25, 1947 and passed away peacefully to be with the Lord at his home on Friday, Oct. 27, 2023. Ken was a graduate of Central High School in Baton Rouge, where he was on the All-Star football team. He also graduated from McNeese State University with a Bachelors Degree. Ken was also on the varsity football team for McNeese. He retired from Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Department with 30 years of service; where he received many awards as a Deputy and D.A.R.E officer. Ken also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most of all, he loved his family.

He is survived by his life long companion, Faye Potts-Derouen; daughters, Joleen Joilet Treadway (available) and Billie Faye Henry (David Oxley); grandchildren, Brandon Treadway, Wesley Henry, and Dale Vidrine; one great-grandson, Carter Wilkerson; brother, Paul Potts (Tommie Joyce); and sister-in-law, Donna Potts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Monroe and Betty Potts; brother, Thomas Owen Potts and Billy Wayne Potts; and wife, Annis Potts.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of the service at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 3, at East Ridge Baptist Church, 5400 LA-397, Lake Charles. Pastor Alan Weishampel will officiate.

Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
