Bryant Habetz, the U.S. History teacher at DeQuincy High School has been named the 2023 Teacher of the Year by vote of the Faculty. Mr. Habetz has taught for three years at DeQuincy High. In addition to teaching U.S. History, Habetz teaches dual enrollment U.S. History, dual enrollment Western Civilization, and dual enrollment European History in collaboration with McNeese State University and has previously taught Advanced Placement Human Geography to students at DeQuincy High.
He has taught for the past fourteen years, with previous experience at South Beauregard High School, McNeese State, and Upper Iowa University.
A 2005 graduate of South Beauregard High, Habetz holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Master of Arts and Liberal Arts in Military History from Louisiana State University. In addition to certification in secondary social studies, he is certified to teach biology, English, general science, and physical education.
Habetz and his wife make their home in Reeves, where they raise their three children.
