Dress Up for Your Favorite Decade
DeQuincy’s KCS Depot is 100 years old this year! 1923 to 2023 has seen a lot of changes, but the depot has remained as beautiful as ever! Which decade is your favorite, starting with the roaring ‘20’s, the wartime ‘30’s and ‘40’s, the be-bopping ‘50’s, the groovy ‘60’s and 70’s, the totally rad ‘80’s, the grungy ‘90’s, the millennial 2000’s, the smartphone manic 2010’s or the TikTok following 2020’s?
We are inviting you to come to the DeQuincy Depot’s Centennial Celebration on Saturday, Oct. 7, dressed as your favorite decade for a “Through the Decades Costume Contest”. The best costume winner will be announced, and we will take an aerial group photo in front of the depot of the costumed participants to be preserved for future generations to enjoy! We can’t wait to see your costumes!
Live Music
The Centennial Celebration for the Kansas City Southern Depot in DeQuincy will be here before we know it. We would like to invite local musicians and vocalists to participate in the live music segment of our celebration outside on our stage throughout the day.
If you would like to participate in this community celebration of 100 years, please call Katy at 337-302-5618 to join in the fun!
Art Display
Some of our favorite depictions of the Grand Old KCS Depot in DeQuincy are from artist’s renderings. We would like to invite local artists to participate in a month-long art gallery display and contest in conjunction with the Centennial Celebration of our KCS Depot. We welcome you all to capture the depot in any format, be it oil paint, watercolor, photography, sculpture, quilting, etc.
Your creations will be displayed throughout the museum for the month of October and visitors at the Centennial will be able to vote on their favorite. The winner will be announced at the close of the day.
All entries may be dropped off at the DeQuincy Railroad Museum Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
We can’t wait to see your Art!
