Luther F. Smith, Sr. was born June 19, 1954, and passed away Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023, at the age of 69.
He enjoyed fishing and working on all sorts of vehicles. Luther was an outdoors man and loved his family deeply, especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his daughters, Chassie Langley and husband, Anthony, and Nacola Smith; grandchildren, Kirsten, Cane, Gracie, B.J., Zoe, and Daxtyn; great-grandchildren, Karsyn and Stella; siblings, Rev. Clyde Clark and wife, Carolyn, and Betty Hudson and husband, Earl.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nyoka Smith; sons, Andy Smith and “Doon Doon” Smith; parents, Frank Smith and Bessie Cook; along with his siblings.
The family received friends from 12 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 12, at Smokey Cove Pentecostal Church, 2169 Smokey Cove Rd, Singer. Rev. Clyde Clark officiated. A private burial will be held at a later date at Perkins Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
