Jacquelyn Farrar

Jacquelyn Anne “Jackie” Farrar, 92, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2023 in a local care center.

She was a native of Opelousas and had been a resident of Sulphur since 1954. She graduated from the University of Southwest Louisiana and then received her Masters +30 from McNeese State University. She worked as a teacher for many years before working at the school board office until her retirement. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Preceptor Eta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, the Sulphur Garden Club, a former member of Krewe de la Famille, and a charter member of the Catholic Daughters Court Our Lady of the Snows. She was a Master Gardener.

Survivors include her daughters, Maureen Armentor of Lake Charles and Kathleen Nichols of Merryville, nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Lewis Farrar; two children, Anne Farrar and Will Farrar.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, Aug. 28, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur. The Rev. Timothy Goodly officiated. Burial was in Consolata Cemetery in Lake Charles under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.
