DeQuincy places second in tournament

Several local boys from the Southwest Louisiana area traveled to Metairie to represent DeQuincy in the 2023 Dixie Boys Baseball Pre-Majors State Tournament.

On Friday, July 7, DeQuincy faced Loranger 17U. DeQuincy took an easy victory over Loranger 9-1. Sammy Maddox hit a home run in the 3rd inning.

DeQuincy then gained a win over JPRD West with a score of 3-0.

On Saturday, July 8, DeQuincy faced the Southland Hogs 17U. DeQuincy battled until the very end but couldn’t hold them off. DeQuincy took the 9-3 loss to send them into the loser’s bracket.

On Monday, July 10, DeQuincy faced JPRD-East 17U. The game was tied at three with DeQuincy batting in the top of the seventh. King tripled on a 3-2 count, scoring three runs. The game ended with a 7-3 victory for DeQuincy and moved them into the Championship game.

In the championship game, DeQuincy got another chance at the Southland Hogs. DeQuincy fell short, coming out with a loss of 4-1.

DeQuincy finished the Dixie Boys Baseball State Tournament with a 2nd place finish. They will move onto the Dixie Boys Pre-Majors World Series starting on Saturday, July 22, at the Sterlington Sports complex.
