Billy Roy Poole, 87, a resident of DeQuincy, and a native of Singer, passed Sunday, July 16, 2023, at DeQuincy Memorial Hospital. He was born Mar. 6, 1936, to the late Shirley Poole, Sr. and Jewell Ashworth Poole. He is a graduate of Singer High School in 1954 and was a welder by trade. Billy proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1956-1962 as a weapons mechanic.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lil Lyles Poole; son, Tony Poole and wife, Tina; daughter, Kimberly Dahlquist and husband, Eddy; grandchildren, Jayme Buxton and husband, Danny, Jade Pickering and husband, Teryl; great-grandchildren, Carter, Harper, Marley, and Holden; sisters, Jeanette Cooley and husband, Wayne, Juanice Brown and husband, Danny; brothers, Wilborn Poole and wife, Carol, and Donald Poole and wife, Diana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Milbern Poole, Rayford Poole, Ronald Poole, Freddie Poole, Shirley “Jr.” Poole, Timothy Poole, and twin sister, Betty Poole Hofknect; paternal grandparents, Charles and Lula Ashworth Poole; and maternal grandparents, Andrew and Millie Rosella Ashworth.
The family received friends from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, with the service to follow at 11 a.m. at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Private interment at Alston Cemetery in DeQuincy.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
