Edgar Wayne Spikes Sr. was born in DeRidder. He worked as a Merchant Seaman for many years; for the past five years he was employed at Merryville High School.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Lorene; two sisters; and one brother.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Spikes; son, Edgar Wayne “Bam” Spikes of Merryville; three grandchildren; and six brothers, Donald Ray Spikes, Ellis Ray Spikes, MacArthur Spikes, all of Deridder; John Wayne Spikes, of Moss Bluff, Joe Lester and Reggie Lee Spikes of Bancroft; one sister, Shirley Childs of Bancroft.
Funeral service was held Monday, July 3, at Norris Memorial Church of God in Christ in DeRidder. Pastor Kieran Coleman and Pastor Murray C. Piper officiated. Burial followed at Spikes Cemetery in Bancroft under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder.
