Steve Gibson

Steve “Blue” Gibson, 72, was born Nov. 19, 1950, and passed away Monday, June 19, 2023. Steve was a prayer warrior and a faithful member of the First Pentecostal Church in Starks. He retired after many years of being a pile driver. Steve enjoyed sports, barbequing, and being a jokester. He was witty and the children knew him as “Blue Dog” because he loved to teach the kids how to bark like a dog.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Wanda Gibson; son, Billy Williams (Laura); grandchildren, Tavin Williams and Jonathan Williams; siblings, Rev. Lanny Gibson (Shelia), Kathy Malone, and Midge Ness (Leif); mother-in-law, Velma Drake; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Weldon and Edna Gibson; brother-in-law, Dale Richard; and sister-in-law, Elaine Bass.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas for the excellent care provided.

The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, June 24, at First Pentecostal Church in Starks.

Visitation continued from 9-10 a.m. The funeral service began at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 25, at First Pentecostal Church in Starks. Pastor Karl Smith officiated. Interment followed at Fountain Cemetery in Starks.

Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
