Rufus “Friday” Madison Gearen, 85, of Singer, died Wednesday, May 17, 2023.
He is survived by his children, Kevin Brown and Shannon of DeQuincy, Elizabeth “Cissy” Gearen of Iota, Gary Brown and Peggy of Singer, Rodney Brown and Laura, Michael Brown and Honda of Oretta, Sandra Lacy of Kemp, Texas, Edith Coker, Leonor Melder, Carol Null, and Tresa Jo Davis; sister, Betty “Bo” Daniels of DeQuincy; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Ashworth Gearen; sons, Tommy “Tucker” Brown, Ricky Brown; grandson, Jacob Brown; parents, Ed and Bessie Gearen; and one brother, Billy “Sambo” Gearen.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, May 23, at Singer United Pentecostal Church. Brother Donnis Ashworth officiated. Burial followed at Good Hope Cemetery in Singer under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder.
