Maureen Cole

Maureen Baggett Cole was born Aug. 13, and passed away Saturday, Apr. 8, 2023. In the early ‘70s, Maureen was the first woman to be hired into the insurance business in Louisiana. For over 30 years, she was the owner of C & K Casualty Insurance. Maureen was a hairdresser, realtor, and she enjoyed playing piano and organ. She was known for her elegance and class. She was a resilient, strong, and determined fighter. Maureen made her own path and continuously beat the odds.

She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Green (Todd) and Cyndi Cole (Keith); grandchildren, Kelly (Jonathan), Joe (Kasha), Carrie (Ryan), Kristin (Dakota), DeLaine (Daniel), Olivia, Josh (Holly), and Diane (Casey); great-grandchildren, Ella, Scarlett, Annabelle, Addison, Jackson, Wren, Ganon, Max, Brylynn, Kallen, Aubree, Baylor, Ian, Presley, Jonas, Matthew, Aven, Hudson, and Lexi; her twin sister, Maxine Havens (Steve); sister, Marilyn Kobialka (Fred); and her “sweet little cousin”, Melissa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Cole; daughter, Janet Marie Cole; and her parents, Edward Baggett and Roberta Goins Baggett.

The family received friends from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, Apr. 11, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Apr. 12, at Temple Baptist Church, 310 E. LeBlanc St., DeQuincy. Pastor Dwayne Hyatt will officiate. Interment will follow at Good Hope Cemetery in Singer.

Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
