Doris Youngblood Spikes passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023 at the age of 83.
Doris loved music, especially bluegrass and gospel. Some of her favorite times were spent singing with her husband, Lynn and the many musicians who were more like family than friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister and a prayer warrior. She was a member of The Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy.
She is survived by her husband, Lynn Spikes; children, Dewey Hargrove and wife, Shelia, Rev. D. G. Hargrove and wife, Becky, Rev. Danny Ray Hargrove and wife, Angela, David Hargrove and wife, Allissa, Jeffri Spikes and wife, Nichole and Jerilyn Kendall and husband Corey; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Minnie Cross and husband, John, June Lawson, Diane Chandler and Linda Sue Youngblood.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Dewey Youngblood and Ora Cripps Youngblood; and sisters, Dolly Tate, and Joyce Mahoney; and brother, David Youngblood.
The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, and the funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Febr. 11. The visitation and funeral service were held at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Pastor Wayne Neyland officiated. Interment followed at Riley Smith Memorial Park in DeQuincy.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
