Wanda Broussard

Wanda Lee Price Broussard was born on Mar. 19,1932 in DeQuincy. She passed away on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022 at the age of 90 in Sequim, Wash.

She is survived by her children Sheree Ellzey, Fred Bub Broussard Jr., Jan Orr and husband, David; five grandchildren, Beau Broussard (Jessirae), Allison Ellzey (Gabriel Martinez), Kade Broussard (Tejana), Payden Orr, Natalie Franklin (Christopher); seven great-grandchildren, William Broussard, Brynn Broussard, James Broussard, Kennedy Franklin, Leilah Franklin, Xochitl Broussard, and Adrien Martinez.

Wanda is also survived by her sister, Paralee Smith; sister in law, Mona Broussard, sister in law, Zona Arceneaux; brother in law, Bill Dowers and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Prentiss and Gladys Price; her husband, Fred Broussard Sr.; sister, Carol “Poochie” Dowers; son in law, Jimmy Ellzey; brother in law, Samuel Smith Sr.; and nephew, Sam Dude Smith.

Wanda graduated from DeQuincy High School in 1950. She attended Southwestern University where she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. She graduated from McNeese State University in 1954. She married her high school sweetheart, Fred Broussard Sr., on Dec. 24, 1954.

Wanda shared her gift of knowledge with all of her students while teaching elementary age children in Texas and Louisiana for 30 years.

She loved spending time with her family and friends, and loved traveling especially to Hawaii.

A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date.
