Doris B. Ivey, 77, of DeQuincy, passed into the arms of her Savior on Friday, Nov. 25, 2022 at Christus St. Patrick’s Hospital in Lake Charles.
She was born to her late parents, Jesse and Lorena Bunch on May 8, 1945 in Sulphur. She was a faithful member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in DeQuincy. She enjoyed playing board games, cards (especially Skip-Bo), baking and making Christmas candy. Doris loved attending the Hixson-Snider LIFT program and going to the Sr. Center. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and attending Elder Berry.
She is survived by her son, Christopher A. Ivey (Brandee) of DeQuincy; brother, Talbert Bunch; sister-in-law, Judy Bunch; granddaughter, Alex Reed; along with her very special nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dicky” Ivey; parents; siblings, Evelyn Addison, Richard Bunch, Sr., Jessie Bunch, twins, Shirley Bunch, and Stirley Bunch, and Kyle Bunch; brother-in-law, Robert “Bobby” Ivey; father and mother-in-law, E.O. and Vicy Ivey, Jr.
A Celebration of Doris’s life will be held at Pine Grove Baptist Church in DeQuincy on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 2 p.m., with Bro. Ron Sherer and Bro. Jordan Doyle officiating. Visitation was at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy on Tuesday, Nov. 29, from 5 until 8 p.m. Visitation will resume at Pine Grove Baptist Church in DeQuincy on Wednesday, from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Rigmaiden Cemetery in DeQuincy.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Humane Society of Southeast Texas and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Services entrusted to Jordan and Amanda Mothershed of Hixson-Snider Funeral Home, 205 E. Harrison St., DeQuincy.
