Joseph “Joey” Gilland was born on Dec. 23, 1964, and passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022, at the age of 57. Joey was a member of the DeQuincy Masonic Lodge 279 F&AM and held the title, “Most Worshipful Master”. Joey was always up for an adventure. He loved hunting, fishing, looking for arrowheads, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Laranda Peterson and husband, Daniel, Korey Barry and husband, Austin, and Hunter Gilland; and his grandchildren, Ashlyn, Aleece, Maison, Braxton, Raegan, and Hadley.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Daisy “Sissy” Mae Gilland; and grandparents, Iris and Buddy Cochran.
The family received friends from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 29, 2022, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home. Visitation continued from 10-11 a.m. with the funeral service starting at 11 a.m., on Friday, Sept. 30, at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Interment followed at Masonic Cemetery in DeQuincy.
Arrangements were handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. 4th St., DeQuincy.
