Tigers outscored by Westlake

DeQuincy hosted the Rams from Westlake Friday night and came up on the short end, 46-14.

Westlake outgained the home standing Tigers 351 yards to 227 yards. The Tigers gained all their yards via the run.

Turnovers plagued the Tigers most of the night as they threw one interception and had 3 fumbles while Westlake didn’t commit a single turnover.

Westlake jumped off to a quick start as they scored 3 touchdowns in the first quarter to take a 20-0 lead going into the second quarter.

DeQuincy got on the scoreboard on a 1 yard touchdown run by quarterback Reese Ashworth. Ashworth then scored on a great 86 yard run right up the heart of the defense to bring the score to 20-14 after both extra points were tacked on by kicker Kohen Cormier.

That however was the end of the DeQuincy scoring for the night as Westlake tacked on 4 more touchdowns to close out the scoring, with westlake earning the 46-14 win.

Reese Ashworth was the leading rusher with 108 yards scoring both touchdowns. Eathan Guidry tacked on 51 yards rushing. Mikah Kerlegan added 30 yards on the night.

On the defensive side of the ball for the Tigers, Dacourius Griffin had 5 solo and 1 assisted tackle with 1 tackle for a loss. Eathan Guidry had 4 solo and 4 assisted tackles with 2 tackles for a loss. Kaleb Hooker had 3 tackles. Wyatt LaVergne and Jase Puryear each had 2 solo and 2 assisted tackles. Carson Rainwater had 2 solo tackles and Reese Ashworth and D’Ante Thomas each had 1 solo and 1 assisted tackle on the night.

Next up for the Tigers is a Sept. 9th Friday night road game in Loreauville against the Tigers. Loreauville was a week one winner 20-15 against Erath.
