Mary Ruth “Honey” Haley Burge went to be the the Lord on Friday, May 27, 2022.
She was born May 27, 1944 and was met at the gates of Heaven by Parents, Howard and Mary Haley; and her five brothers, Charles, Jimmy, Carol, Melvin and Glynn.
She was loved deeply by all and was a devoted Wife to Danny Paul; and Mother to three sons, Tim, Steve and John. Mary Ruth was blessed to have ten grandkids, Joshua, Carrie Ellen, Lauren, Sean, Jimmy, Jacob, Jaden, Jessie, Reagan and Riley; and lastly one great-grandchild, Lena Rose; all whom deeply loved their Ma Honey. After all three sons were born, Mary Ruth decided to go to McNeese graduating at the top of her class. She continued her education attending a French University for a semester continuing her passion for the French language. She died as she lived, with sharp sense of humor, a stubborn Norwegian streak and immense love of family and friends.
The family received friends from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, May 31 at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, at Northside Baptist Church, 1003 Hwy 27 N, DeQuincy. Pastor Randy Edwards will officiate. Interment will follow at Rigmaiden Cemetery in DeQuincy.
