Edward Wilcox, Sr.

Edward Eugene Wilcox, Sr., 93 and a lifelong resident of DeQuincy, passed from his earthly home on Tuesday, May 24, 2022.

Edward was a sharpshooter in the National Guard where he participated in National Matches all over the United States, serving most of his time at Camp Perry. Edward was a business owner. He and his late wife, Lucille Banken Wilcox owned and operated A & W/Wilcox’s Restaurant for thirty-six years and Wilcox’s Washateria for forty years. He enjoyed his family, cows, shooting, hunting and reminiscing about the good days in DeQuincy and at the A & W.

He is survived by his three children Edward Eugene “Gene” Wilcox, Jr. and wife Betty; Timothy John “Tim” Wilcox and wife Misty; Ella Denise Wilcox Maddox and husband James; eight grandchildren, Becky, Trey, Miranda, Candice, Brittany, T.J., Staci, and Caleb; nine great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Banken Wilcox; parents, Ed and Alice Wilcox; and seven siblings.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, and the funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 26. The visitation and funeral will be held at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Rev. Rodney Bankens will officiate. Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery, DeQuincy.

Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home. 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
