DHS Band trailer recovered almost one year later

By Maj. Jerry Bell, Chief of Detectives

On May 14, 2021, DeQuincy High school reported that person(s) unknown had stolen their band trailer. Major Jerry Bell was assigned the case. The trailer was seen on cameras going into Texas on early morning of May 14, 2021. The case was held open for almost a year waiting for a lead.

On Monday, Apr. 18, Asst. Chief Roy Williams, along with Major Jerry Bell, drove to Palestine, Texas. Major Bell testified in a hearing before Judge James Todd. The trailer had been recovered in Anderson County, Texas. Major Bell submitted evidence that the trailer was in fact stolen from DeQuincy and DeQuincy High School was the owner. Judge Todd ruled that the trailer be returned to DeQuincy High School.

The stolen trailer was brought back to DeQuincy by Asst. Chief Williams and Major Bell. The trailer was turned over to high school authorities. Principal Zach Jones thanked the DQPD for their assistance in getting the trailer back.
