Elizabeth “Liz” Perkins Whatley was born Oct. 17, 1933 and passed away MOnday, March 28, 2022 at the age of 88.
Liz was a lifelong resident of DeQuincy and she was a graduate of DeQuincy High School. Liz was a hairdresser and she owned and operated the “Wash and Wear Beauty Salon” for many years. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Jimmie Royce Whatley; four children, Jim Roy Whatley, Lisa Whatley, Angie Whatley Duplechin and husband, Todd and Louis Whatley; two grandsons, B. J. Yellott and Todd Yellott, two great-grandsons, Bowdy and Jackson; brother, George Roy Perkins and wife, MaryAnn, sister-in-law, Lois Alston; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Perkins, Sr. and Lillie Roy Perkins; brothers, Edgar Perkins, Jr. and Howard Perkins.
The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. Thursday, Mar. 31, and the funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. The visitation and funeral service will be held at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Interment will follow at Riley Smith Memorial Park in DeQuincy.
Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
