Lady Panthers win district

The Starks Lady Panthers cinched the District 6-C Championship in winning 46-36 play over Hackberry on Tuesday, Feb. 8, as cheering Panther Nation fans filled the Panther Den.

The official district season ended on Friday, Feb. 11, when the Lady Panthers traveled to Crowley to defeat Northside Christian 63 -19 to end the seasons district play. The Louisiana Class 6-C District Champions Starks Lady Panthers move into the Louisiana Class-C playoffs after an undefeated 8-0 district season.

This is the Lady Panthers fourth consecutive year as the reigning 6-C District Champions. The Starks High School team, under the tutelage of Head Coach Chad Beebe and Asst. Coach Andrea Coleman Clark, overcame injuries to benched player Sr. starters Keleigh Phillips and Jr. Madelyne Nolen as well as injuries to Soph. Ava Rout and Jr. Miley Stampley to claim the championship title.

The Lady Panthers undefeated district season is led by alternating starters Sr. Chloe Gibson, Jr. Savanna Hutson, Jr. Kennedie Harrison, Fr. Sadie Barrow, Fr. Tayla Holloway, Jr. Isabella Deville and team members Fr. Sarah Barrow and Fr. Hayley Johnson.

The Lady Panthers season includes undefeated wins in Texas at the Deweyville High School Basketball Tournament where the Lady Panthers team took first place with team members Kennedie Harrison named tournament MVP and Sadie Barrow named to the all tourney team.

The #12 Starks Lady Panthers will face #5 Hornbeck Lady Hornets in the Regional Playoff on Tuesday, Feb. 22, in Hornbeck.
