Benjamin Ballou, Jr.

Benjamin Harrison Ballou Jr., “June”, 87, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022 at a local hospital.

He was born in Jennings, reared in Elton and later moved to DeQuincy where he was a member of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church.

He worked as a rice farmer, and also worked for Boise Southern, and later retired from DeQuincy Memorial Hospital. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a United States Navy Veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Ceaser Ballou; two sons, Timothy Joseph (Dorothy) Ballou Sr. of Highlands, Texas and Travis Troy (Sylvia) Ballou of Cottonport; two sisters, Mary Nell Toussaint of Elton and Loretha Pitts of Baltimore, Md.; two brothers, Leroy Ballou Sr. of Sulphur and Wilson Bellow of Elton; 12 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Dolvina Ardoin Ballou Sr.; daughter, Tina Michelle Ballou; son, Terry Ballou; and two sisters.

Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 19, from 9 a.m. with his funeral following at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church, located at 203 S. Grand Ave. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Elton under the direction of James Funeral Home.
