Drug arrest on East Harrison Street

On Friday, Feb. 4, Chief Casey Whitehead received information from a sister organization that there was possible drug activity happening on East Harrison St. Further that the drug activity pertained to Methamphetamine, Marijuana, and Weapons.

Chief Whitehead, Assist. Chief Roy Williams, Detectives Jerry Bell and Doug Phillips, and Lt. Loy Bader went to the residence. There they obtained permission from the person at the residence to search for drugs. Inside the residence, in the back bedroom, back living area, and freezer in the kitchen, DeQuincy officers located 31 grams of Methamphetamine, 45 grams of Marijuana, three sets of scales, numerous small clear baggies for distribution, two handguns, two shotguns, and one long rifle and two glass smoking devices.

Captain Phillips sent a warrant to Judge Tony Fazzio on Bernice Woodrow Adams, 53, DeQuincy for the following charges: One count of Distribution/Possession of Schedule II, Methamphetamine, One count of Distribution/Possession with the intent to distribute Marijuana, or synthetic cannabinoids, One count of Possession of a Firearm or Carrying concealed weapon by a person convicted of certain felonies, One count of Illegally Carrying of a Firearm unlawfully in the possession of a controlled substance except the possession of fourteen grams or less of marijuana, One count Determination of drug paraphernalia.

The warrant was returned with a $38,000 bond by Judge Fazzio. DeQuincy Officers went to Beauregard Parish and escorted Adams back to DeQuincy. Adams will be transferred to the Calcasieu Correctional Center.

Chief Whitehead stated that the DeQuincy Police Dept. will continue to enforce all drug laws, make arrests, and continue to keep drugs off the streets of DeQuincy.
