Doris Guillory

Doris Coleman Guillory, 78, of Longville, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022 at her home.

She loved to play basketball and in 1993 was inducted into the LHSAA Basketball Hall of Fame. She was credited with the overhand jump-shot in girls basketball, and scored over 4100 points in her four-year high school career, a state record that wouldn’t be beaten for over 30 years. She still holds numerous national high school free throw records. After high school, she played professionally for the Hazel Walker’s Arkansas Travelers, where she played over 200 games a season across the country. She played against military teams and semi-pro men’s teams, including against Hall of Famer Wilt Chamberlain.

She also worked at Trunkline Gas Company for 40 years, where she worked engine maintenance, and fire extinguisher and crane inspection, among many others. She also served several years on the Beauregard Parish School Board.

She is survived by her brother, Bill Coleman of Longville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Guillory; parents, Britt and Myrtis Coleman; two brothers; and one sister.

Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 4, at Memorial Baptist Church. Interment was at Barentine Cemetery. Revs. Jimmy Clark and Brad Johnson officiated.
