L.O.V.E. Community Mission celebrates one decade of service

By Gwen Chapper

L.O.V.E Community Mission is now in its 10th year serving the seniors of DeQuincy.

The Mission was organized Feb. 8, 2012 and started out as a handful of people who had a purpose to serve the elderly/disabled in our community.

The main services are: we will continue to call seniors living alone, provide local transportation, yardwork, handiwork with discretion, refer helpful resources, mail occasional cards accordingly and consistently, offer requested phone call prayers and contribute to our senior care center/facilities and senior programs.

We do serve and have served seniors in need and refer helpful resources to others. It gives us joy to serve our seniors! It’s a blessing to continue to improvise to serve our seniors during this Pandemic!
We have been blessed to bless our seniors these 10 years with the cooperation of volunteers, businesses, organizations, donors, members of the community, mayors (former and present), pastors and churches.

Creative Hearts Crochet group (Lake Charles) chose LOVE Community Mission as their 2021 Project to distribute crocheted items to the elderly/disabled. We are grateful and the seniors appreciated the gifted items. We have been chosen again for their 2022 project! Blessed!

Our Partners include Calcasieu Council on Aging, Cycle Knights of Port Arthur, Harry L Hooker, Sr. Memorial Fund, La. Health Care Connection (Baton Rouge).

Hopefully, LOVE Community Mission will continue to spread the Service of Love. Community unity is the key. We encourage our youth to engage in volunteering through community service.

We genuinely love our seniors! Gal. 5:13 By love serve one another.
