Dorothy Tubbe

Dorothy A. “Nanny Doodle” Tubbe was born Feb. 20, 1934 in Mission, Texas and passed away Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022 at the age of 87.

Dorothy began a career as an operator for Southwestern Bell and retired in 1991 from the engineering department. She was a faithful member of Woden United Pentecostal Church from 1969 until 2017. In 2017 she began attending Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church of Lufkin, Texas.

She was a wonderful cook and over the years she prepared many wonderful meals for the UPC ministers. She enjoyed reading, her most treasured book was her Bible and through the years she has worn out many. She was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was also an incredible aunt to her nieces and nephews who lovingly called her “Aunt DoDo”. To know her was to love her and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Williams and husband, Mike; grandchildren, Melody Banken and husband, Rev. Byron Banken, Tamberli Adams and husband, Rev. Dyron Adams, and Thad Williams; and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Marjorie Stream and Tommie Thacker; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Tubbe; parents, Ollie T. Williams and Clyde McCauley Williams; twin brother, Don Willliams, sister, Sally Wilson; and brother, J. V. Williams.

The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, and the funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17. The visitation and funeral service was held at Woden United Pentecostal Church, Hwy 226 South, Nacogdoches,Texas. Interment followed at the Tubbe Family Cemetery.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice, their team, Carla Stone, Olga Luna and Demedric Loftis. Also, a special thank you to Dianna Ford, Jodie Suggs, and Jerry and Julie Williams.

Arrangements are being handled by Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W. Fourth St., DeQuincy.
