DeQuincy manhandles Oakdale

By Mike Suchanek

The District race has began. Taije Ceaser made sure his DeQuincy Tigers squad came out on top rushing for a team high 190 yards and scoring 3 touchdowns to lead the Tigers to victory over the Warriors 40-14. Taije scored on three long runs from scrimmage. His first touchdown came in the second quarter on a 49 yard run to put the Tigers up 7-0 after the Kohen Cormier kick.

Taije added a 37 and a 51 yard touchdown romp in the third quarter to close out the scoring for the Tigers.

Reese Ashworth added a long 24 yard touchdown run himself in the second quarter.

Chris Simmons hauled in a 17 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Ashworth to close out the 20 point first half of play. The defense played stout giving up zero first half points.

Hudson Synder got in on the action early in the third quarter scoring on a 13 yard scamper into the end zone to put the home standing tigers up 26-0.

Oakdale managed to score twice in the third quarter for their only points of the night

Rushing on the night was the main focal point for the Tigers as Taije Ceaser added 190 yards, Hudson Snyder added 46, Reese Ashworth had 38. Ronald Courville added 15, Gavin Gary 8 and Wyatt LaVergne had 2 yards to add to the Tiger total of 308 yards.

DeQuincy only had 41 yards passing on the night but why throw when you are running so effectively.

Chris Simmons had 17 yards receiving, Gavin Gary had 10 and Taije Ceaser added 14 yards through the air.

Kohen Cormier was 4 for 6 on points after touchdowns.

On the Defensive side of the ball Eathan Guidry had a big night with 7 solo and 2 assisted tackles.

Hudson Snyder had 3 solo 1 assisted one Sack and 2 tackles for a loss. Gavin Gary added 3 tackles.

Chris Simmons, Zach Chambers, Kaleb Hooker and Quentin Pharris all added 2 tackles on the night.

Ronald Courville, Wyatt LaVergne, Shiloh Cotlong, Gunner Holley and MJ Clark all got in the action with 1 tackle each.

Overall a great performance by the home standing Tigers to open district play with a resounding victory.

Next up for the the Tigers is another home game, this one brings back all the Alumni for the annual Homecoming game as the Tigers welcome in the Pickering Red Devils. The Red Devils come in licking their wounds having taken a big loss at the hands of the Vinton Lions last week. However, don’t take the Red Devils too lightly. They always play DeQuincy tough. If DeQuincy brings their A game it should be a game they should win. I look for a Tiger victory.

Come out Friday night and catch all the Homecoming action starting at 7 p.m.

Go Tigers!
