Ward 6 Fire–fighting fires and helping others

Ward 6 Fire Dept. Engines 5, 19, and Service 6 and seven firefighters were dispatched automatic aid to assist Ward 5 Fire Dept. with a structure fire on 2nd Street in Starks.

Upon arrival of the first unit, heavy smoke was emitting from the structure and fire was showing on the B/C side of the house.

Firefighters made an aggressive transitional attack to control the fire.

Ward 7 Fire and Houston River Fire Dept. were requested to respond mutual aid with manpower and a mobile cascade trailer.

Acadian Ambulance provided medical monitoring for firefighters and Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office assisted with traffic control.

Deploying to SELA

Ward 6 Firefighters will be deploying to Southeast Louisiana as part of a strike team from Southwest La.

Crews from Iowa VFD, Beauregard FD #1 and Beauregard FD #2 will also be deploying with boat and rescue assets to assist our neighbors to the east.

Last year during Laura and Delta there were many of these departments being affected by Ida that came to help us.
