Robert Lee Cotlong, Sr., 85, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2021.
He was born in Lake Providence. He was a longtime resident of Starks
He is survived by his children, Sandra Banks of Beaumont, Texas, Carol Hopkins Scott of Orange, Texas, Robert Cotlong Jr., of San Diego, Calif., Arlesa L. Cotlong Clark of Houston, Texas and Kenneth Cotlong of Starks, Vernon Cotlong of DeQuincy, Charles Thomas of the Philippines, Edward Thomas of Arkansas and Regina Guillory of Houston, Texas; 25 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He retired from Sabine River and Northern Railroad after 31 years of service. After retirement, he began working for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Department and the Calcasieu Parish School District. He was also a member of Greater St Mary Baptist Church of Lake Charles for 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Cotlong, Sr., and Cleo Payne; his wife Arlene Cotlong; one brother; and step daughter, Ruthie Cobb.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Sept. 4, at 9 a.m., and funeral service will be at 11 a.m., at First Pentecostal Church, 225 Hwy. 109, Starks. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Starks under the direction of King’s Funeral Home.
